Inspired by a real eyewitness account from New Braunfels. After blocking off a crawl space beneath a mobile home, a family started hearing heavy footsteps overhead in the dead of night. A late-night watch turned up a small primate hiding in a tree — furry, monkey-faced, silent, watching. Strong urine odor beneath the trailer. Other strange activity involved deer in town posting rear guards like geese. Evidence of large animals moving through brush too dense for longhorns.
The witness knew what they saw — but had to call it a bobcat, for the sake of their job.
